Married at First Sight fans have noticed something a little suspicious about the latest season’s infamous glass-smashing incident — it’s eerily similar to a scene from The Real Housewives of New Jersey.
Tensions then escalated after Olivia appeared to embellish the events when recounting the incident to other cast members.
“[Domenica] got up and stood over me and smashed her wine glass and then proceeded to wave the broken glass in my face while she stood over me and screamed,” she told her husband Jackson Lonie and several other grooms. She also suggested that Domenica had used the glass “like a weapon”.
Now, one reality TV fiend has noticed that the whole debacle was eerily similar to another drama-stricken series.
As reported in episode 186 of the So Dramatic! podcast, the MAFS fan said Olivia’s retelling of the incident appeared to “recreate” what happened on Bravo’s The Real Housewives of New Jersey some years ago.
“So, I’m watching RHONJ and Olivia has said she is a HUGE Bravo fan,” they recalled. “In season nine, Jennifer [Aydin] cracked the absolute sh*ts at Melissa [Gorga] and held the stem in her hand waving it around.
“One of the other housewives, when retelling the story, said ‘she waved the stem around in my face like a weapon’ or something along those lines.”
According to the fan, this was the “biggest scene” of RHONJ that season and continues to be referenced throughout the series.
“Maybe Olivia was trying to get the same drama and recreate this?”
Did Olivia Frazer Really Quote The Real Housewives of New Jersey On the Show?
Of course, we went back and watched the abovementioned scene and damn, if we thought Married at First Sight was effed, RHONJ is out of this world!
The contentious incident aired in 2019 and is, in fact, oddly (and perhaps suspiciously) similar to MAFS‘ broken glass incident.
“When you guys left, Jennifer f*cking throws the glass down, like, almost in my face,” Melissa told her co-stars after the confrontation in Cabo.
Then, Dolores Catania noted: “[She] held the stem like she was going to fight her with it.”

Sure, the words aren’t like-for-like, however, you can’t deny that the effect isn’t too dissimilar…
