Married at First Sight Australia 2022 bride Olivia Frazer has been pulled up for lying in her claims that Domenica Calarco used a broken glass as a “weapon”.
In case you missed it (we’re sure you didn’t), Olivia and Domenica’s rivalry came to a head during this week’s Couples Retreat when the latter smashed a wine glass in frustration.
While the MAFS bride was condemned for her actions (and later apologised for them, too) Olivia relayed the incident to the husbands, albeit with dramatic flair and embellishments.
“She got up and stood over me and smashed her wine glass and then proceeded to wave the broken glass in my face while she stood over me and screamed,” Olivia (falsely) relayed.
Like her co-star Mitch Eynaud, it seems that Olivia forgot the one cardinal rule of reality TV: everything is on camera.
What Happened Between Olivia And Domenica?
Contrary to Olivia’s version of events, Domenica was actually sitting down when she shattered the wine glass on the table.
She then placed the broken glass back down before standing up — as reiterated by co-star Ella Ding.
At no point did Domenica “[wave the] broken glass” in the student teacher’s face.
Their fiery stoush erupted during a girls’ night after Olivia brought up Domenica’s criticisms of Carolina Santos.
At the preceding Commitment Ceremony, the Italian bride called out Carolina for her treatment of Dion Giannarelli.
From the other side of the table, Olivia repeatedly told Domenica to reconsider how she “speaks to people”.
“I just think you need to choose your words really carefully because when you swear, it comes off way more aggressive.”
She continued: “I’m sick of hearing you. I’m sick of your voice yelling all the time. I’m bored of your voice.”
Soon after, Domenica smashed her wine glass, leaving the table in shock.
Domenica Reveals Why Olivia’s Words Were So Triggering
In an interview with KIIS FM’s The Kyle and Jackie O Show, Domenica confessed why Olivia’s comments about her voice were so cutting.
“It really got to me. My whole life, being told about my voice… that I’m loud, that I’m outspoken, you know, change the way you are, the way you are isn’t good enough,” she recalled. “It really triggered me.”
Chatting to hosts Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O Henderson, Domenica said Olivia’s behaviour at the Couples Retreat revealed her “true colours”.
“In this experiment, we’re there to challenge ourselves,” she said. “I think she just really showed her true colours.”
Adding that she’s “got a good bullsh*t detector”, something wasn’t adding up about Olivia from day dot.
“I just thought okay, like face value — she seems really nice and stuff, but then there would be little comments that I would think ‘oh, okay, this is not really adding up to… the person that she’s trying to portray.”
