In a plot twist no one saw coming, Married at First Sight Australia 2024‘s Tim Calwell‘s iconic best man, Ben, was approached to star on FBOY Island Australia 2024.
Ben made headlines after his COOKED best man speech at Tim’s on-screen wedding, where he told a tale about a time the groom ate a “rancid four-day-old chicken” at a music festival.
However, wedding guests and fans were floored when the groomsman finished his story by telling bride Sara Mesa: “You can find solace in the fact that, rancid or not, Tim will still eat you.“
Sources told So Dramatic! that FBOY Island casting producers reached out to Ben after his brief stint on MAFS, but he “declined the offer” to join the show. Boo!
Why did Married at First Sight‘s Tim Calwell’s best man turn down FBOY Island?
When approached for comment, Ben told So Dramatic! he turned down FBOY Island because he was focusing on the launch of his fashion marketplace, Bushpop.
He also said his girlfriend, with whom he was in an ethical, non-monogamous relationship at the time, wasn’t too keen on the idea. And that’s fair enough!
This comes after it was revealed that FBOY Island had cast several familiar faces for the new season. This included The Bachelors’ Krystal Thomas, The Bachelorette‘s Paddy Colliar, and The Amazing Race‘s Jake O’Brien.
