EXCLUSIVE: MAFS’ Ella Ding compares slave labour to ‘hustle culture’ and add it to the long list of her ick comments

mafs ella hustle culture slave labour

Married at First Sight Australia 2022’s Ella Ding has compared slave labour to “hustle culture”, and we have no words.

From claiming mindfulness can cure chronic diseases to victim-blaming sexual assault survivors, using ableist, misogynistic, and derogatory language, Ella has been known for taking problematic stances.

However, things went from bad to worse during PrettyLittleThing’s “Becoming a Girl Boss” event in June, in which she was paid to be a “keynote speaker”.

Per news.com.au, the former TV bride told the crowd she’d learnt to be a “girl boss” after opening a call centre in Asia and employing cheap, underpaid staff.

“Up at sunrise, home at dawn, no questions asked, and they’re getting paid not a lot compared to what we were getting paid,” the podcast host told the audience.

“So I really respected their work ethic… I’m big with the hustle culture.” LOL!

More SHOCKING details about Married at First Sight‘s Ella Ding’s call centre

One attendee at the “Becoming a Girl Boss” event spilled more deets about Ella’s ‘problematic’ comments.

“Ella said she opened the call centre in her early 20s in the Philippines,” they told So Dramatic!.

“She was boasting about how she underpaid and overworked her staff, who worked 12-hour days, seven days a week for basically nothing.” Big yikes.

According to our source, Ella was “really proud of how she profited from cheap labour”, using her call centre as an “inspiring example” of how we all need to “hustle more”.

“She had no idea how problematic it sounded. She boasted about it as if it were some big achievement to be proud of. She’s seriously so uneducated,” they added.

Married at First Sight’s Ella Ding tells fans she ‘LOVES’ problematic podcaster Joe Rogan

Per the news.com.au, Ella was also overheard telling her fans that she “loves Joe Rogan“, a problematic podcaster who’s been called out for being misogynistic, racist and spreading harmful misinformation about the COVID-19 vaccine.

“I listen to podcasts that a lot of these women wouldn’t listen to,” she said. “He gets people on to talk about very controversial things that many people don’t agree with. That’s what podcasting is!”

And no wonder she was called a “fake feminist” during her latest podcast controversy…

Fans call out Ella Ding for equating slave labour to ‘hustle culture’

Taking to the comment section underneath a video on Ella’s Instagram page, fans called out and poked fun at her for her sentiments about “hustle culture” in sweatshop environments.

“Getting paid off the backs of hard-working people in third-world countries, shame on you. You’re not hustling. You’re exploiting,” one user commented.

Another person commented, “sweatshop girl boss,” while a third claimed that “every word” Ella speaks is “utter bullsh*t”.

Meanwhile, in the reviews for her podcast Sit With Us (which she co-hosts with Domenica Calarco), one reviewer said Ella’s admission was “shameful”.

“Find it totally hypocritical that this podcast endorses the position of exploiting women in Asia when setting up the call centre,” they wrote.

“Absolutely shameful and not cool to boast about earning your fortune off the back of other women when you have had such privilege.”

What other problematic stances has Married at First Sight‘s Ella Ding taken?

Over the years, Ella has made many problematic comments that have been swept under the rug.

From misusing the terms “spastic” and “bipolar” to promoting the outwardly transphobic and sexist psychologist Jordan Peterson on her Instagram Stories. Not to mention, she also defended Love Island’s Al Perkins after he was caught “making out” with influencer Hope Kelesis when she was 17 and he was 26, which fans labelled “gross grooming”.

So, it’s no wonder Ella’s found herself in hot water again.

And honestly, a little education would go a long way…
