Married at First Sight Australia 2022‘s Ella Ding has been called out for an “offensive” misuse of a term relating to a mental health condition.
Ella has had her fair share of faux-pas since her appearance in the marriage experiment, from seemingly spreading medical “misinformation” on her Sit With Us podcast to misusing the outdated and problematic term “spastic”.
Now, as highlighted in episode 342 of the So Dramatic! podcast, the 30-year-old has added another notch to her problematic belt.
What did Ella Ding say that upset fans?
One source shared a screenshot from Ella and her co-star-slash-bestie Domenica Calarco‘s “Besties” broadcast channel on Instagram.
In the channel, Ella wrote: “We just ran in the pouring rain lol just did 5km. Honestly, Melbourne is so bipolar.”
“Love Ella throwing around the word bipolar like it isn’t offensive,” the spy wrote to So Dramatic!.
“I get the reference to Melbourne weather, but as someone with bipolar disorder, I hate when it’s used as a throwaway joke word when it’s the opposite if you suffer daily with this disorder. Not happy at all.”
Bipolar disorder is a mental health condition associated with episodes of mood swings ranging from depressive lows to manic highs.
Per Better Health, one in 50 adult Australians experiences bipolar disorder each year.
