Phillip Island locals have blasted an “inconsiderate” letter from The Block 2024 producers amid filming disruptions in their neighbourhood.

Last year, the residents of Charming Street in Victoria’s Hampton East were outraged after a series of pompous letters were sent to them during filming.

And this year is no different! Residents surrounding the filming location on Phillip Island’s Justice Road were sent an “introductory” letter from executive producer Julian Cress, and they weren’t too thrilled about it.

“Dear neighbour, as you would know, the TV show The Block is being filmed on Phillip Island in 2024, and I wanted to take a moment to provide you with an update on our project,” the letter read.

“You may have already noted there are no film trucks, grips, gaffers or catering vehicles (the sorts of vehicles you may normally associate with a film shoot) required to produce The Block.

The letter then insisted that strict “council building guidelines” would be followed during the shoot.

“Specifically, the use of power tools is strictly limited to between the hours of 7 am and 6 pm weekdays and 7 am and 3 pm Saturdays,” they added.

Julian added that the “traffic management team” would “ensure that traffic flow on Justice Road remains uninterrupted” during filming.

“We’re also working closely with Bass Coast Shire, who are aware of our activities, and we have all the appropriate permits in place.”

Phillip Island residents SLAM The Block for poorly timed letter

One disgruntled local took to social media to slam The Block for their poorly timed letter.

“This letter, the neighbours should’ve received [before] commencing work with The Block!!,” they wrote. “Shame we’ve only got it now with only five weeks of filming left.

“No consideration to neighbours with all the cars blocking the road. Also the school children that need to cross the road to get the school bus… Shame on you The Block!!’
