Just when we thought he couldn’t get any worse, Married at First Sight Australia 2024‘s Jack Dunkley allegedly fat-shamed Tristan Black during the Couples Retreat.
As revealed in episode 351 of the So Dramatic! podcast, Jack “body-shamed” his female co-stars and “insulted” their appearances during filming.
Now, it’s been reported that fan-favourite groom Tristan was also in his firing line.

“Jack fat-shamed Tristan at the retreat,” one contestant dished in episode 359 of the So Dramatic! podcast. “It was so mean and horrible. No one could believe it.
“Tristan’s such a nice guy. He didn’t deserve it. He’d done nothing to Jack to warrant that type of treatment from him.”
And we’re shocked. Body shaming ANYONE is never okay, but we’re especially upset that Tristan was the target.
Married at First Sight‘s Tristan was too ‘insecure’ to go ‘anywhere near the pool’ during the retreat
To make matters worse, Tristan was already feeling so insecure during the retreat that he didn’t go “anywhere near the pool”.
“Tristan has huge body-image problems and insecurities which stem from him being overweight when he was younger. He gets really down on himself about it,” another contestant told So Dramatic!.
“At the retreat, everyone was down by the pool, and Tristan didn’t want to go anywhere near them because it looked like Love Island down there.”
They added: “Timothy [Smith] felt bad for him and could empathise with how he was feeling because he’s also insecure and doesn’t have a six-pack like the rest of the grooms.
“So Timothy stayed with Tristan so that he wouldn’t be on his own. They were just hanging at the side of the house all day.”
When does MAFS’ Jack ‘fat-shame’ Tristan?
According to our sources, Timothy eventually convinced Tristan to sit with him by the pool. The pair remained in the shade and kept their clothes on.
However, as soon as they sat down, Jack came up to them and allegedly said: “I see the whales are in town today.”
And whilst this comment is ALREADY unacceptable, it’s even more devastating based on Tristan’s history with his body.
When Jack was later confronted, he backtracked and said his comment was actually about Lauren Dunn and Sara Mesa. Like that makes it any better?!
MAFS‘ Timothy goes OFF at Jack after his comments towards Tristan
Luckily, Timothy had Tristan’s back after Jack’s horrible body-shaming comments.
“Timothy didn’t say anything to Jack in the moment as he knew there were no cameras around and he wanted to wait until they were filming to confront him about it,” one source dished.
“Timothy waited until boys’ night and ripped Jack to absolute shreds. He completely dressed him down.
“He said: ‘It’s guys like me and Tristan who pay assholes like you to help us. I hope you don’t have a business after this show. “
Timothy reportedly added: “You’re the reason that people feel insecure about their bodies. As if you haven’t done enough on this f*cking show already.”
