From whether or not the show’s rigged to what host Scott Cam is really like, keep scrolling to find out The Block‘s best-kept secrets!

Josh Packham reveals whether The Block is rigged

Whilst some things on The Block may seem too good to be true (ahem: villains Kristy and Brett Beams and Ash and Leah Milton coming last in this year’s auctions), Josh has revealed that the show isn’t rigged.

“Everyone has a clean slate when it comes to [auction day],” he told host Megan Pustetto.

“The [show] cannot push people to spend millions of dollars on a property just for the sake of it.”

However, he explained that production could’ve potentially nudged buyers into choosing certain houses over others.

“But you can’t force someone to buy a property at that price,” he added.

How long do contestants really have to finish the job after ‘tools down’ is called?

Josh confirmed that contestants must put their tools down as soon as production says so.

However, a little wriggle room was provided to teams who were “friends” with producers.

“If you’ve got another 10 to 15 minutes to go, they’ll probably give you leeway,” he explained.

“They’ll sort of turn a blind eye”. Ooft! Pays to have friends in high places…

Josh Packham spills on Scott Cam’s role on The Block

The former Love Island contestant also claimed that long-time host Scott was “barely” on set.

In fact, the moments when Scott informs everyone to put their tools down are actually pre-filmed! And yes, our minds are blown too!

“You don’t see [Scott] that often,” he said, explaining that he mainly pops by for his “weekly walk around”.

“He only gets called in when the big dogs tell him that the drama is unfolding… He’s basically a mouthpiece for production,” he added.

Whilst Josh and Luke “got along well” with Scott throughout filming, they were shook when he was “ripping them to shreds” on the radio.

Scott later told Josh that he did this to “protect the show” and “defend the edit”.

However, these actions left a bad taste in Josh’s mouth.

“[Scott]’s a bit arrogant,” the reality star remarked. “I have mixed feelings about him after that.” Yikes!

Josh addresses what really happened during THAT wild night out

Josh and Luke were famously called out for going out clubbing during filming, breaking the ultimate rule to never leave the building site.

When speaking about the night in question, Josh explained that he and Luke had to sleep in a hotel that week because their accommodation had flooded.

“We got up at 3:30 am and thought we were in a pretty good position on the show. We didn’t realise how much work we had to do that week.

“So we thought we’d go out [and] have fun,” Josh recalled.

“We got back at 8:30 am. We were feeling pretty rough and put on a brave face,” he laughed, revealing that producers said this had “never happened on the show before”. LOL!

Despite being out on the town all night, Luke ended up claiming he had “food poisoning”.

However, Josh confirmed that this was indeed true and sure, Jan!

“We had a fridge but we didn’t have power so it was running off generators,” he said.

“Our generator turned off in the middle of the night and when we came back [from our night out], Luke was starving and ate a burger out of the fridge, not realising the generator been turned off for eight hours.” Gag.

“He then had to go to the hospital, [where they told him he had] food poisoning.” Case closed! We think…

Josh reveals why The Block has become more dramatic

Josh also shed some light on why the hit renovation show has become more dramatic, revealing that it had taken on Married at First Sight‘s editing team.

“It’s what people want to see,” he said. “They want high drama.”

Josh then explained that this editing shake-up was “paying off”.

“The Block is getting big deals [and the drama] has kind of rejuvenated the show,” he dished. And now it all makes sense!
