The Block host Scott Cam has broken his silence over the drama that has taken over the renovation show in 2023.

The Channel Nine series has copped criticism en masse for showcasing “bullying” and “harassment” from some of the 19th season’s Blockheads.

While we’ve heard from some of The Block‘s judges about the “toxic” drama, the show’s leading man, Scott, was yet to say anything.

He’s since told TV WEEK that he was pretty shocked with how the contestants turned on each other this year, dubbing the season “unusual”.

“New personalities came out in different people that they didn’t show us in their interview,” he shared. “Some drama happens and you go, ‘Wow, I didn’t see that coming from that person’.”

The 60-year-old even admitted that people stop him on the street to complain about the onscreen tiffs.

However, he wants people to know that producers play no part in what unfolds among the cast.

“We don’t create the drama,” Scott explained. “We never know what’s going to happen. It’s all happy days in the first week, but the nature of our show is it’s a crockpot and a bubbling mess where everyone is lacking sleep from day one.

“Things just implode.”

Will The Block drama overshadow the contestants’ renovations?

Despite the full-on antics, Scott doesn’t think the heated drama will overshadow the contestants’ renovations.

“The construction comes first, the real estate second and the drama third,” he said.

“It’s up to the contestants how they manage that throughout the process, but I like to remind them [being on The Block] is a once-in-a-lifetime experience and to not go through it fighting the whole time.

“Enjoy it.”

It comes as insiders revealed that The Block producers are preparing for the finale to be explosive AF.

It’s even believed that some contestants will be separated during the auctions on November 4 due to post-production fallout.
