Reality stars have taken to social media to share tributes to I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here! Australia 2022‘s Cal Wilson after her shock death at 53.

On October 12, a post on the beloved comedian’s Instagram account informed followers that she’d died “after a short illness”.

“We’re devastated to share the news that Cal Wilson, the much-loved stand up comedian, writer and actor died today, surrounded by family and friends in hospital after a short illness,” the post read.

Many TV personalities filled the comment section with their condolences.

“This is so tragic and my heart goes out to Cal’s family,” actress Rebel Wilson wrote. “She was amazingly talented and amazingly kind.”

The Block judge Shaynna Blaze was “heartbroken”.

“[Cal was] the most divine, radiant person who I have watched, admired and worked alongside,” she commented. “So much love to her husband, son and family.”

The Amazing Race’s Grant Denyer was “shaken” by the news, calling it “unbelievably sad”.

“The most tender, kind, generous and talented performer I’ve ever had the pleasure to work alongside. This is devastating,” he penned.

“No words. One of the biggest hearts in comedy,” comedian Joel Creasey added.

Meanwhile, MasterChef‘s Poh Ling Yeow said being friends with Cal was “nothing short of magical”.

Cal’s I’m A Celebrity co-star David Subritzky also uploaded a tribute to the late reality star on his Story, writing: “Thank you for being a beautiful person and making the world full of laughs!”

I’m a Celebrity’s Cal Wilson made an impact on Australian TV

Cal, who hailed from Christchurch, New Zealand, moved to Melbourne in 2003 to star in the sketch show Skithouse.

Alongside her work as a comedian, she appeared on Dancing with the Stars in 2008 and hosted the seventh season of The Great Australian Bake Off.

Cal is survived by her husband Chris and son Digby.
