The Masked Singer Australia 2023 panellist Abbie Chatfield has given her fans a health update after posting a series of Instagram Stories from her hospital bed.

On September 23, the FBOY Island host told her followers that she’d been struggling with a severe kidney infection.

“[I’m] only now able to use my phone because I’ve been so sick,” the 28-year-old started, sharing that she’d been in the hospital for three days.

“This is your reminder to advocate for your pain and stop pushing through for work or because you don’t think it’s serious enough to go to hospital [for],” she wrote.

The podcast host then explained that she was “in denial about how bad” her kidney infection was and didn’t go “straight to hospital”, despite “crying from the pain in [her] bladder and back”.

“I got on a plane for work and ended up in a hospital away from home,” she continued.

“I didn’t want to mess anyone around so I tried to do the work I’d planned to do (like I always stupidly do).

“Now, I’ve [messed] everyone around even more. I’m also very sick in a place where none of my friends and family can come and visit me.”

The Bachelor breakout star then warned any fans with UTI symptoms, back pains and nausea to go straight to hospital.

The Masked Singer‘s Abbie Chatfield urges her followers to listen to their pain

Abbie, who was hospitalised earlier this month with an intense migraine, urged her followers to listen to their pain.

“[This is] my second time in hospital in a month so probably need to figure out what’s going on with me,” she said, before advising her fans to “try to connect with the pain [they’re feeling] instead of distracting [themselves] from it.”

“As AFAB (assigned female at birth) people, we tend to minimise our pain. This time, I had someone with me advocating for my pain and it made such a difference,” she shared.

“I’m usually in pain throughout entire hospital stays because it’s pain I can ‘handle’ and AFAB people are used to being in constant pain.

“But this time, having someone recognise my pain and saying ‘She’s not okay’ has been amazing.

“The nurses and doctors can’t help you if you’re pretending to be okay when you’re not,” she finished.

This comes after Abbie admitted that she had a “real addiction to work” and needed more time for herself.

We wish her a speedy recovery!
