Married at First Sight Australia 2023‘s Claire Nomarhas has revealed the bizarre reason she got “kicked out” of a restaurant and this one has us stumped.

On September 13, the former TV bride told 9Entertainment that she’d been asked to leave a restaurant for dining ALONE. And yes, we’re just as shook as you.

“I wanted to go to this place for ages,” the 32-year-old explained.

“I waited in line for 25 minutes. They seated me and then [a waitress] came up to me and was like: ‘How long ’til the other person arrives?’

“I said ‘Oh no, this is just dinner for one’.”

The waitress then told Claire she had to leave as there was a two-person minimum. And like any of us would, Claire assumed the waitress was joking. However, Claire was told again that she “needed to go outside”.

And at least the MAFS star didn’t pull a ‘Do you know who I am!’ (ahem, Jed McIntosh).

“I was really embarrassed,” she admitted. “I walked out and felt like I was doing the walk of shame.”

Despite being “embarrassed” by the situation, the reality star revealed that there were “no hard feelings”

“I understand times are tough and from the restaurant’s perspective they might need a minimum spend to make it worth their while,” she said.

“I will definitely go back there, obviously not alone.” And maybe she’ll bring her boyfriend Pat Calleja next time?!

At the time, Claire also shared a video on her Instagram Story explaining the situation, which caught the attention of Ben Fordham’s Live 2GB radio show.

After listening to Claire’s story, host Ben Fordham said: “I’m thinking to myself, this can’t be a thing surely?”

However, many of his listeners shared that they’d been in a similar situation.

“My darling partner passed away recently,” one listener named Chrissy explained.

“I went to the fish markets and lined up for 30 minutes to get a table for one.”

“When I came to the top of the line they told me I’d have to go back to the end because they didn’t have a table for me, they were taking tables for two. I was so sad.” And honestly, we feel this is a tad unfair…
