Turns out reality stars who face off in boxing matches don’t get paid a whole lot, despite dedicating hours to taking down their opponent.
In recent years, signing up for a Team Ellis Boxing match is the final step in becoming a bonafide Married at First Sight Australia star.
This year, 2023 groom Harrison Boon fought last year’s intruder groom Daniel Holmes, while his co-star Jackson Lonie also stepped in the ring against Love Island Australia 2022‘s Tak Chipangura.

You’d be forgiven for letting the August 19 fights slip your mind, but TL;DR: Daniel smashed Harrison while Jackson beat Tak.
But with weeks of preparation under their belt, you’d think something so time-consuming would have a decent payday, right? Wrong!
According to Yahoo! Lifestyle, these “celebrity” fighters earn an average of $2,000 to $3,000. They also pocket 15 per cent of any tickets they sell.
Following recent fights, the reality stars have also donated some of their earnings to charity.
Which charities have benefited from Married at First Sight stars fighting in Team Ellis Boxing matches?
Following his fight, Harrison took to Instagram to congratulate Daniel and explain he would donate some money to Youth Off The Streets.
“Daniel fought well, we both went the distance, didn’t back down and gave the people a good fight,” he penned. “In the end, it came down to a few points it was a close fight.”
He added: “If you’re reading this far please consider a small donation [Youth Off The Streets] which provides crisis housing to children in need.”
“I’m donating sponsorship and purse towards this amazing charity so please let’s make a positive change together.”
In 2022, Brent Vitiello said his ticket earnings would go to It’s Okay Not To Be Okay, which stirred up some drama with Daniel, who was his opponent.
He called out Brent for only donating profit from tickets, which was “minimal in comparison to prize money”.
The TV groom then said he’d be donating “all” of his prize money should he win. However, he never specified which organisation would receive it.
