The Block‘s longtime co-host Shelley Craft has confessed who she thinks the “worst team” of Blockheads were last season.
There’s no denying that the 18th season of The Block was an absolute clusterf*ck.
From cheating scandals to filming delays to all-around Blockhead beef, it truly was a masterclass in reality TV chaos.
Now, Shelley has dished the dirt on the 2023 season, especially about this year’s cast’s lack of renovation experience.
ICYMI: In recent years, most of the teams have had at least one member with trade skills under their belt. This year, there is just one with building experience and another who’s a designer.
“We were really after great characters and we’ve really got that this year,” Shelley said on Hit Breakfast with Maz & Matty.
“I always thought my best team would be an accountant and a HR manager because you have to be able to manage your money and your trades, and we sort of had that last year.
“It was an absolute effing disaster.”
The 47-year-old added: “That is the worst team that there is, it’s not the recipe!”
Ouch.
Who is The Block team that Shelley Craft is talking about?
While there’s no team that matches the actual description of an “accountant and HR manager”, Ankur Dogra and Sharon Johal kinda fit the bill.
Ankur’s everyday job is as an accountant, while Sharon is a lawyer-turned-actress.
Now, this pair were the topic of much controversy during The Block 2022, mainly because they were massively in debt with several weeks still left in the competition.
At the time, host Scott Cam had to take over their budget, which fractured the trio’s relationship on the show.
They also had some serious beef with their tradies, who spilled the tea to So Dramatic! about the behind-the-scenes carnage.
It does sound like the 2023 cast is marginally better, but given the reports that their drama is like “Melrose Place on steroids”, we aren’t holding our breath.
