Multiple Married at First Sight Australia 2023 participants have spilled even more tea about Melinda Willis and Claire Nomarhas‘ Logies beef and it’s so hot you might burn your tongue so drink with caution…
ICYMI: Drama was already brewing among the cast in the wake of the marriage experiment, and it seems it reached boiling point at Aussie TV’s annual night of nights – the TV Week Logie Awards – on July 30.
Speaking to Punkee at the event, Claire admitted that she was getting “weird vibes” from Melinda, who later shared a clip from the interview and called Claire out for “bull[ying]” on Instagram.
Now, in episode 307 of the So Dramatic! podcast, key witnesses to the MAFS Logies drama have weighed in on what actually went down.
One participant told host Megan Pustetto that they “don’t know what the beef is”, and that many of the cast are being “dragged into it” simply by association.
“Melinda never made eye contact with any of us, we’re not going to chase her down to say hi to her,” they said.
The source added that everyone was on time for the cast’s red carpet walk. However, Melinda “kept [them] all waiting for an hour”.
“Then [she] turns up and barely looks at anyone,” they added. “We heard her telling one of the interviewers that she was going to wear a dress with a huge train so no one could come near her!” LOL, power move, TBH.
The source continued: “She turned away while Layton [Mills] was saying hi to everyone. Just because you don’t like someone doesn’t mean you should ignore everyone in their vicinity.”
Married at First Sight‘s Melinda Willis ditched the Logies well before the event was over
According to one cast member, Melinda then arrived late to dinner and “sat at the head of the table”.
However, she “left before mains”.
“When we asked Layton where she was, he said she had apparently gone up to the room and never came back and didn’t turn up to the after-party either,” they explained, adding that Layton attended the after party without Melinda.
They also alleged they could “hear Melinda screaming and yelling at Layton” before and after the event as “most of the contestants were all staying on the same floor.”
“She’s also unfollowed all of us as well,” they revealed. “So somehow she is the victim because people didn’t chase her down to say hi. After you’ve kept them waiting, don’t apologise, act cold, and go as far as to say ‘I didn’t want anyone to come near me tonight’.
“I don’t get it, you are so blessed to be there, so just enjoy yourself instead of sitting in your room and then making your partner feel bad for having fun.”
They concluded: “She got love, a good edit, a fan base, and an invite to the Logies and that’s how she behaves.” Sheesh!
Married at First Sight participants claim Melinda Willis wasn’t in the wrong amid Claire Nomarhas Logies drama
While some have been quick to judge Melinda for her Logies behaviour, other participants have alleged that she was the one who was “completely ignored by the cast”.
“She walked in last and no one went over to speak to her except Tahnee [Cook],” one star revealed. “They all turned their backs to her when she walked in.
“It was extremely awkward and cruel.”
They then called out the cast, who “happily reposted” Claire’s group photo, which Melinda and Layton were conveniently cut out of.
“Mel is definitely not the one who snubbed anyone,” the insider added. “Mel was singled out by the entire group. It was ganging up, intimidating and bullying vibes.”
What’s more, is that the remaining contestants “tried to recruit Layton” into their posse after Melinda left.
“Melinda doesn’t deserve any of this. She hasn’t done anything to anyone except be a good friend to them.”
Married at First Sight‘s Melinda Willis responds to backlash over behaviour at the 2023 Logies
When contacted for comment over the allegations from the Logies, Melinda provided a statement to So Dramatic!.
“We were late because Layton left his bow tie at home and we were trying to Uber one to him but the girl couldn’t find the place and during it all he dropped food on my dress.
“I missed getting my photos or calling my stylist to complete the look because I was trying to help him with his outfit and so was my makeup artist.”
The 32-year-old added that it was “cruel” for people to “make things up” without “check[ing] in” with her to find out what actually went down.
Melinda added that the event had allocated seats during meals, so she “didn’t choose to sit at the head of the table”.
As for why she left the Logies in a hurry, the beauty CEO said she “had a sore back and couldn’t sit for long so left to go to the room and lie down”.
However, she fell asleep before she could return.
“It was really awkward down there at the table and as I wasn’t feeling well and I didn’t want to put myself through that when I didn’t need to,” she admitted. “MAFS is over, this wasn’t a dinner party to be children at, it was the Logies.
“Bringing another female down and making her out to be the bad one and then trying to even get in her partner’s ear when she left behind her back, it’s not people I want to align with at all.”
Phew. That’s all, folks!
