The Bachelors Australia 2023‘s Leah Cummings has revealed all about her tumultuous relationship with Thomas Malucelli, including what happened in the lead-up to their shock split.
ICYMI: Leah recently shared that she “risked [her] health” to be with the Bachie after he proposed in the finale because the restauranteur “doesn’t believe in modern medicine”.
The 33-year-old said Thomas attempted to get Leah to stop taking her medication for severe asthma and anxiety, while encouraging her not to get her COVID vaccinations.

Now, in episode 302 of the So Dramatic! podcast, Leah has recounted the demise of her and Thomas’ relationship in detail.
Chatting to host Megan Pustetto, she confessed that the more she got to know him once the cameras were off, the more she realised he “wasn’t the person [she] fell in love with on the show”.
What happened following The Bachelors 2023 finale?
Leah said she was “thrown off” by Thomas just moments after he proposed to her.
“We went to a private place on finale night… I was just over the moon,” she recalled. “I was really happy to have him by myself, but I was a bit upset because nothing happened.”
Leah explained that she “tried to kiss” Thomas and initiate some intimate, quality time with her fiancé, particularly after he’d recently told her he “couldn’t wait to sleep with” her. However, nothing eventuated.

“He said he was tired,” she said. “I was like, ‘Is there something wrong with me?’
“I thought you would just, especially coming out of something like that, you’d want to just be with that person straight away. It was really confusing.”
While they were eventually intimate during the three days they were permitted together, Leah admitted it “felt a bit tainted”.
“It was just such an awkward feeling for me,” she said, adding that they only consummated their relationship after she’d brought up the incident.
“When I brought it up with him, it just put pressure on it. I just didn’t feel right.”
The Bachelors 2023‘s Leah Cummings reveals when her and Thomas Malucelli’s relationship became ‘weird’
After the finale, Leah said she and Thomas would constantly chat and FaceTime each other.
“Things were really good,” she confessed, adding she had plans to “move to Sydney”. “I was starting a new job [there] and we were on track.”
Then, two months after filming wrapped, Thomas travelled to America.
“But when he came back… That’s when things started to feel weird for me.”
While she was aware from day dot that Thomas was travelling overseas, Leah didn’t find out until after the fact that he went away with his ex, Brittany.

When she confronted him about it, Leah said she was “gaslighted” by her partner.
“He’s like, ‘This is why I didn’t tell you’,” she recalled. She didn’t press the issue further, being cautious not to “rock the boat”.
Then came the conversation about Leah’s lifelong battle with asthma, a condition that her aunty had previously died from.
What did Thomas Malucelli say about Leah Cummings’ asthma?
In her interview with The Advertiser, the South Australian said she found herself needing to use her Ventolin in “private” when with Thomas.
She now describes the act as “disgusting”.
“He said, ‘I think you have asthma because you believe you have asthma’,” she recalled.
Recalling this chat on the So Dramatic! podcast, Leah said she asked Thomas how he’d handle asthma if they were to have a child who suffered from it.
“He’s like, ‘I would try alternate ways to treat that asthma,” she said. “It upset me so much, but I didn’t say anything. I was just kind of like, ‘Well, no. I would never try that.”

Thomas Malucelli admitted to using a ‘fake’ COVID vaccination certificate to appear on The Bachelors
Thomas also confessed to Leah that he wasn’t vaccinated, and had produced a “fake certificate” in order to appear on The Bachelors, which required all participants to be vaccination against COVID.
“It’s all like, red flags,” Leah said of the revelation.
The couple’s “different views” when it came to medicine was, in part, responsible for Thomas’ decision to dump Leah just three months after proposing to her.
What happened when Thomas Malucelli broke up with Leah Cummings?
Flying to Sydney over the AFL grand final weekend, Leah said she could “feel something was wrong”.
Moments after he’d given her a belated birthday gift, Thomas confessed: “This isn’t working.”
“He goes, ‘You know, we were just two different people’,” she recalled. “I was so confused. There was a massive anti-climax… I thought this was gonna be all good news. I was just so, so shocked.”
She said she “left the room and broke down in tears” before she called her family for support.

Leah said she wondered why Thomas allowed her to fly interstate when he was going to break up with her hours after she arrived.
“Couldn’t [he] have texted me and said… ‘I’m just letting you know [there’s] probably going to be an uncomfortable situation or conversation, do you want to have it over the phone or do you want to fly over?’
“Because I would not have gone all the way over there,” she confessed.
After Leah travelled back to South Australia, the couple didn’t speak again until Thomas’ motorcycle accident in October 2022.
