Married at First Sight Australia 2023‘s Shannon Adams has denied claims he’s a meth addict after fans voiced concern that he was using the drug while filming the experiment.
During his short-lived TV marriage to Caitlin McConville, the father-of-one appeared erratic, aggressive and lowkey off the planet.
His behaviour sparked concern online, with many fans in agreement that the personal trainer was “smashing meth”.
Following the spicy MAFS 2023 reunion, Shannon has spoken out about fans’ implications, staunchly denying that he’s on any sort of illicit drugs.
“Absolutely not!” the groom said when Daily Mail Australia questioned him. “I’m not a meth addict.”
The newly-minted Uber Eats driver explained that he was diagnosed with ADHD after filming the experiment.
The diagnosis led him to take dexamphetamine (also known as “Dexies”), which is a medication prescribed and closely monitored by his doctors.
“It’s a long, challenging process to get diagnosed and treated for ADHD,” Shannon confessed.
“Only those who’ve experienced it would understand my thought process.”
He added, jokingly: “If I was on meth, I would’ve been wide awake during those 4 am commitment ceremonies, not looking glassy-eyed and ready to fall asleep.”
Married at First Sight‘s Shannon Adams’ ‘meth’ use isn’t the only cause for concern
Speculation that Shannon was using illicit drugs isn’t the only cause of concern among MAFS fans in recent months.
In February, the PT’s resurfaced Instagram posts showed him using offensive language and spitting on the floor of a gym while giving (questionable) advice to his clients.
“See that sexy little bitty on the treadmill and you’re eyeing her off… No, no, no, no, no. F*ck her!” Shannon screamed in one clip.
“You are not in here for that. Go to a f*cking bar, Leave her alone. You’re in here for yourself.”
He continued: “You pay your dues, that’s how you got to be. And that’s a winner. She’ll come along in the long term.”
A second distressing video saw the reality star spit on the gym floor before offering more advice.
“So that’s your difference right there… That’s what will make you number one and keep you number one,” he said, before spitting away from the camera.
The clips emerged around the same time as his MAFS faux pas, in which he intimated to his wife Caitlin that he wouldn’t have gone running back to his ex had she been more attractive.
Regardless of whether he’s taking illegal substances or not… man’s cooked.
