It’s been revealed that multiple Married at First Sight Australia 2023 participants applied for the show under fake names.

Clearly, being completely authentic on reality TV is a hindrance to one’s career, as would be shying away from cheating scandals and being in a genuine, loving relationship.

As reported in episode 270 of the So Dramatic! podcast, Duncan James and Evelyn Ellis are both using aliases.

One of Evelyn’s former classmates dished to host Megan Pustetto that her real last name is Stewart, which she ditched before appearing on Big Brother UK in 2016.

“I’m not sure if Ellis is a middle name or if she just chose a random alternative that rolls off the tongue better,” they confessed. However, we’re SO here for the alliteration of her stage name. Just sayin’.

Meanwhile, Duncan’s full name is actually Duncan James Simpson, with the hunky groom adopting his middle name as a moniker.

“It’s not a scandal. He’s not hiding his identity for any reason,” one of his friends clarified.

“He doesn’t really care now, he was just being extra careful going into it.”

According to mates, Duncan’s decision to forgo his surname came down to his career.

“He’s high up in a cyber security company and one of their clients is the government, so he just wanted to be a bit careful about putting his real name out there,” one pal explained.

Given his glowing edit as an upstanding guy, Duncan “doesn’t really care now”.

However, “he didn’t want to put much about his career out there because whatever happens on MAFS, especially if it’s negative, relates back to his job and could be detrimental because the people he works with and sells to are super serious.

“He didn’t want to draw too much attention to himself.”

If you don’t want to draw “too much attention” to yourself, maybe don’t go on the biggest reality show in the country?

Just a thought.
