Married at First Sight Australia 2023’s most controversial bride, Melissa Sheppard, revealed in her audition that not being in a committed relationship “scared the sh*t” out of her.
The 41-year-old hairdresser claimed that she felt “more empowered” in her sexuality than in her 30s or 20s, but she feared being alone.
“Let me tell you. I feel like I’m going to become a single spinster if MAFS does not take me,” Melissa said.

Melissa explained that she had repeatedly questioned whether she would “miss the boat” in finding “genuine people” who want to be in a relationship.
“[Available men] might see me as a one-night girl, I’m not sure. But I’m far from that. I really want to be in a committed relationship,” Melissa said.

She continued: “If [my groom is] an amazing person and they are genuinely kind and loving, I feel like I will fall in love with them straight away. Just a nice human.“
However, Melissa added that she could be somebody’s “worst enemy” if their values didn’t align.
Melissa Sheppard’s TV husband Josh White quits Married at First Sight
The audition footage was released by Nine just ahead of Melissa’s husband Josh White‘s unprecedented departure from Married at First Sight during the upcoming February 19 Commitment Ceremony.

As reported in episode 256 of the So Dramatic! podcast, the experts allowed the 40-year-old groom to leave the show, due to the couple’s ongoing conflicts around sex.
An insider revealed that the situation gets so bad that John Aitkin is forced to intervene and lets Josh leave the experiment despite the rules stating you need to stay if one person writes stay.
