Married at First Sight Australia 2023 has copped a major change on-set after Domenica Calarco‘s glass-smashing scandal in 2022.

Domenica and Olivia Frazer‘s ongoing stoush during the ninth iteration of the marriage experiment reached breaking point (pun intended) when Domenica smashed a wine glass at the Couples’ Retreat.

The incident resulted in an external police investigation and also kicked off the OnlyFans saga, which is also being looked into by authorities.

Now, 2023 bride Claire Nomarhas has revealed that producers swapped out all glassware with plastic cups in the latest season.

“Alright, I’ll give you a spoiler,” she told NOVA’s Fitzy & Wippa. “They actually replace the glasses with plastic cups”.

TBH, this is a good move considering this year’s cast is pegged to be even more unhinged

The Couples’ Retreat incident (which was filmed in late 2021) was reported to police in February 2022.

NSW Police decided to can the case and no action was taken because “there was no evidence of any law being broken”.

However, they are still investigating “the alleged distribution of an image without consent”. A.K.A, that OnlyFans scandal.

During an Instagram Q&A in January, Domenica updated fans about how the police investigation into Olivia’s distribution of her OnlyFans during filming had progressed.

Image-based abuse is better known as “revenge porn”. It is described as “an intimate image or video that is shared without the consent of the person pictured”, according to the Australian Government eSafety Commissioner.

Confessing the case had been “stalled”, Domenica said it was because Olivia had the “legal right” not to talk to police.

As such, they couldn’t continue actively investigating the case until somebody “came forward“.

“The police are just still investigating it, which has gone on for a really long time. I did get a call two weeks ago from the police saying that at this stage, the investigation is stalled,” Domenica said.

“As of right now, I don’t think it will ever be closed. Unless someone comes forward with evidence and wants to talk, it’s at a standstill.”
