Kyle Sandilands has revealed the insane INTERNATIONAL celebrities joining him on the Australian Idol 2023 judging panel.
During the September 28 broadcast of The Kyle and Jackie O Show, the shock jock revealed Aussie singer Amy Shark, All About That Base hitmaker Meghan Trainor and 90s/00s crooner Harry Connick Jnr will be sitting alongside him. WTAF!
Firstly, we’d like to applaud Channel 7 for this epic line-up. And secondly, our love for Harry Connick Jnr will never die, so we are trés excited!
Since its inception in 2001, the Idol franchise has launched the careers of many multi-award-winning artists, including The Voice mentors Guy Sebastian and Jessica Mauboy, singer Matt Corby, Australia’s Got Talent host Ricki-Lee Coulter, Anthony Callea, Stan Walker, Casey Donovan and Courtney Act.
For Kyle, it has been sixteen years since he took to the Idol stage and according to the new father-of-one, he was “wined and dined” by the CEO of Seven to return.
“So they’ve asked me to come back, and I was like, ‘Oh I don’t know,’ and then the big CEO took me to lunch and wined and dined me and 69’d me, and I said, ‘righto then’.” Lol!
What Did Harry Connick Jnr and Meghan Trainor Said About the Casting?
“I’m looking forward to hearing all the new talent!” Harry said in a statement.
“I love the camaraderie with the judges, the excitement of the crowd and the fun of it all. I love the idea of musical competition; it forces performers to focus on a bunch of things that contribute to their development as artists.”
As for Meghan, she is “honoured” to be a part of the show.
“Idol is an iconic show. I grew up watching it, and I am honoured to be involved and I can’t wait to sit front row and meet new talent. I haven’t been to Australia since 2015, so I’m really excited to get to see the whole country and basically get to live there!”
Who Will Host Australian Idol 2023?
Given that Australian Idol is on a rival network to his home of Ten, Osher Günsberg and forever iconique side-kick James Mathison will not be returning.
Instead, the new iteration will be hosted by Ricki-Lee, who was discovered on the series in 2004, and entertainment presenter and former E! host Scott Tweedie.
