Sports broadcaster and singer Brihony Dawson has been announced as the host for Ten’s highly anticipated new reality series, The Challenge Australia.

Brihony — who identifies as non-binary (they/them pronouns) — already has a very impressive resume under their belt.

They’ve previously hosted NYC Pride, Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras, the Australian Formula One Grand Prix, AFLW Grand Final, W-Awards and Women’s Footy Show. So, it’s safe to say they are more than qualified for the gig!

However, they’ll be playing a whole different ball game with some of Australia’s biggest reality stars, with the likes of Ciarran Stott, Cyrell Paule, Tully Smyth and more slated to compete in The Challenge Australia.

The Challenge Australia is going to be like nothing we’ve seen before on Australian TV,” Brihony told 10Play. “It’s high impact, high intensity and will push the contestants to their absolute best.”

“Mental toughness is going to be the main attribute to get contestants through this game. There is a lot of physicality needed, but it’s the mentally strong who will ultimately be successful,” they said.

On Instagram, they added: “We’re on location in Argentina at the moment and I can’t wait to show you what we’ve been up to. Stay tuned!”

The Challenge Australia will be based in Buenos Aires, giving viewers a chance to see their faves and love-to-hate Aussie celebs facing off in a slew of ever-changing challenges (hence the name).
