Celebrity Apprentice Australia 2022’s Darren McMullen put on a magical display during the finale, however, there was one noticeable difference between him and his BFF opponent Benji Marshall — only Carla from Bankstown returned to help him.

While Benji was assisted by  Woody WhitelawBronte Campbell and Vince Colosimo, Darren had just one person show up for him and now we know the reason why.

During an interview with Megan Pustetto in episode 195 of the So Dramatic! podcast, Carla (whose real name is Benjahmin James) revealed why she was the only one there.

“A couple of the celebs aren’t in Sydney, they’re in like Melbourne or wherever,” the Celebrity Apprentice star said. “So, it was just kind of like, whoever was there in the moment.”

After Carla’s elimination from the series, she had to film an additional scene that involved her giving her two cheques to her charity, Twenty10.

“It was a really, really nice moment,” she admitted. “I’m so upset they didn’t put it on TV because it was just so nice to have that queer representation and talk about the charity.”

“I got to meet one of the trans kids that got help from the charity and all that kind of stuff. It was such a beautiful moment.”

Gladys Butter Chicken’s former assistant then got a phone call from the production team.

“They’re like, ‘Hey, listen, we need you for the finale, can you? We’ve got a room booked for you at the Sheraton for you to come and film for this week,'” she said.

“So I literally had to rush home, pack all my sh*t and then head straight back into the city again. And it was just like, exhausting. But it was a good time. I enjoyed it a lot.”
