Get ready to run! The new reality show, Hunted Australia, is coming to a TV near you and for all you crime buffs out there, this is exactly what you’ve been waiting for.
The real-life thriller is based on the YUGELY popular UK version and sends 18 “fugitives” into the wild. As they escape, they need to run and fast, set to be hunted down by the “hunters”.
On June 13, Network Ten released a brand-new trailer, showcasing exactly what we’re in for and it will have you hooked — line and sinker!

According to the show’s official synopsis, the series will be hostless (what, no Osher Günsberg?) and the fugitives will have limited funds and resources and will have to think of ingenious ways to survive and remain undetected for 21 days.
The cast will then be hunted down by some of the world’s best investigators selected from the Australian Federal Police, Australian Defence Force, British Intelligence, skilled cyber analysts, Special Ops and private security who will use their expertise and replicated powers of state.
And if this isn’t already hard enough, the Hunters have CCTV and call tracing on their side.
Where Is Hunted Australia Filmed?
The new series has been filmed entirely in Melbourne and greater regional Victoria, with the cunning fugitives evading capture from the ground hunters and the Hunted HQ team.
And just in the trailer alone, you can already see Melbourne skyline shots, Federation Square, Flinders Street, the Bolte Bridge and the Yarra River — but where will they hide?!
When Did Hunted First Appear in the UK?
While we’ve never heard of it here, Hunted premiered across the pond in 2015 and has had six civilian seasons as well as three versions that included local celebs.
British sprinter Iwan Thomas won the most recent series and it goes to show, that being able to actually run has its advantages!
The same season starred Made in Chelsea‘s Ollie and Gareth Locke, actress Chizzy Akudolu, drag queen The Vivienne, Too Hot to Handle’s Chloe Veitch, Paralympian Richard Whitehead and singer Lisa Maffia.
There have also been versions in the US, Spain, Denmark, Russia and The Netherlands, and we smell a verrrry successful franchise on the way!
Who Is In the Cast of Hunted Australia 2022?
The first series will pit a bunch of random Aussies against the intelligence agencies and so far, we’ve only been given one name. Featured in the trailer is Erina-Lea Peters from Queensland, whose face is detected by CCTV.
So, if you’ve spotted someone you know, make sure you give us a shout as we NEED all the details!
Side note: If there was ever a celebrity version, we have a few names we’d like to throw in the ring.
While Channel 9 (READ: Married at First Sight Australia) has the best offering of people we’d like to see chased, Locky Gilbert, Grant Denyer and Dr Chris Brown would make for excellent viewing!
When Will Hunted Australia 2022 Premiere
Even though The Bachelors Australia is currently in production, we’re going to guess Hunted Australia will premiere right after MasterChef Australia 2022 since it has already been promoted.
