Network Ten have been the leading channel for reality TV in 2021 and in 2022 it’s adding a whole host of exciting shows to its rota!
Before we get into the new stuff, returning are our faves The Masked Singer Australia and season 8 of I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here Australia which is premiering on January 3, 2022.
Survivor Australia is also back, alongside The Amazing Race Australia, First Dates, MasterChef Australia and The Bachelor Australia and The Bachelorette Australia!
What New Reality Shows Are Coming in 2022?
Couples Therapy
As previously reported by So Dramatic!, brand new TV series, Couples Therapy is coming to Australia! The documentary series from Warner Brothers unlocks a hidden world” of other people’s relationships” that is “far from reality show caricatures”, Using “documentary filmmaking”, the show will “bring viewers into the authentic and visceral experience of weekly therapy”.
The Bridge
New series The Bridge, is also set to make an appearance.
The Welsh version, narrated by actor James McAvoy, is a reality series where a group of 12 people from various backgrounds have to work together to build a bridge, using wood stored at the site and mostly hand tools. So cool!
The Hunted
The heart-racing cat and mouse game, The Hunted, will feature 16 fugitives, filmed 24/7, over 21 days. They’ll have no money, no phone and have to make it to the end, to be in the running for a lions share of a massive kitty.
What Do We Know About Some of the Favourites Returning?
Survivor: Blood vs Water
As reported in episode 106 of the So Dramatic! Podcast with Megan Pustetto, Survivor alum Abbey Holmes revealed that Survivor Australia was returning with the theme Blood vs Water. We then dropped some names who were joining the series, including Khan Hong and Sophia Cachia.
MasterChef Australia: Foodies vs Favourites
Another absolute fave hitting our screens in 2022 is MasterChef Australia with returning judges Jock Zonfrillo, Andy Allen and Melissa Leong.
In 2022, the theme will be Favourites vs Foodies and will be an “amped” up version where a group of 12 hand-picked home cooks will be up against 12 all-star names who have already gone down in MasterChef Australia history.
TEN also announced three season two’s Alvin Quah, season six’s Sarah Todd and the OG winner of MasterChef season one, Julie Goodwin!
