Former Married at First Sight Australia star and influencer Martha Kalifatidis issued an apology after slinging a racist term in a since-deleted Instagram video saw her dumped by a famous brand.

Fans were swift in their criticisms after the 33-year-old shared a video on Instagram of herself singing along to Nicki Minaj‘s Only while in the car on March 25.

However, it wasn’t the song that copped backlash (or the fact that she’s driving while using her phone), but Martha’s use of the N-word multiple times while singing the lyrics.

Martha Kalifatidis Apologised For Singing a Racial Slur

The social media star issued an apology on March 31.

“Towards the end of last week I posted something to my IG stories,” Martha wrote.

“I was singing along to a song which included a racial slur. I immediately realised my mistake and I removed the content… I had no intent to hurt anyone – but that doesn’t excuse my actions.”

Following Martha’s original video, one outraged fan even went as far to contact ghd, a brand known for manufacturing hair products for which Martha is an ambassador.

“Are you comfortable with a paid [promoter] who says racial slurs and posts it willingly being associated with your brand?” they questioned ghd via DM.

Upon their response, the brand said they “would never condone any offensive or hurtful language”.

The Use Of the N-Word Wasn’t the Only Thing People Took Issue With

While Martha’s use of the N-word has been intensely frowned upon, fans also called out the MAFS 2019 star for using her phone while driving.

“I’d love to see her get a fine from police for using her phone while driving,” one fan following the saga wrote on Facebook.

In NSW, the penalty for illegal mobile phone use is the loss of five demerit points and a $352 fine, or a $469 fine if caught in a school zone.
