The Bachelorette Australia 2021 premiered on Wednesday night and we’re already OBSESSED!

Fans of the show have been anticipating the historical season for months and it certainly delivered!

From a heartwarming Welcome to Country to the first woman meeting Brooke Blurton on the red carpet, there was very little that failed to live up to our expectations.

Given this, we were shocked to learn that Brooke’s Bachelorette debut BOMBED in the ratings.

The Lowest Bachelorette Ratings EVER

Wednesday night’s premiere of The Bachelorette Australia only raked in 397,000 viewers! HUH?!

The gobsmacking numbers are the lowest ratings the show has ever seen. Even Jimmy Nicholson‘s yawn-inducing season rated higher! WTF?

Past premieres of The Bachelorette Australia have never dipped below 600K viewers. Ali Oetjen‘s 2018 season was the previous lowest-rating premiere with just 631,000 viewers.

And we don’t know about you, but we find Brooke much more fascinating than Tim Robards‘ second runner-up.

To date, Sophie Monk‘s season had the highest premiere in 2017, with 951,000 fans tuning in.

Viewers appear to have favoured The Block instead of tuning in to watch queen Brooke.

The beloved reno show nabbed 851,000 viewers, while Gruen drew in 700,000 on ABC.

While the number of people tuning in to The Bachelorette might rise throughout the season, it might be too little too late for the beloved series.

Have previous subpar seasons already dug a grave for Brooke’s season of The Bachelorette?

The Franchise Has Already Been Renewed For 2022

The Bachelorettes appalling ratings came just hours after Channel Ten announced they’ve renewed the series for 2022.

At the network’s Upfronts event on Wednesday, it was revealed that both The Bachelor and The Bachelorette will air next year despite their declining ratings.

“We redefined dating shows with The Bachelorette Australia this year,” the Bachie mainstay said. “It’s set to be even better next season as we head to a major moment for this landmark franchise.”
