The Bachelors Australia 2023 lead Thomas Malucelli allegedly ‘mum-shamed’ multiple contestants with children and are we seriously still doing this in 2023?
During the January 15 episode of the dating show, Kiki Joell revealed to the restaurant manager that she has two kids — a 19-year-old son and a nine-year-old daughter — and all of Australia simultaneously watched Thomas malfunction.
Then, the 35-year-old told the camera that he didn’t envisage himself as a step-dad and would prefer to start his own family from scratch. Big yikes.
As revealed in episode 245 of the So Dramatic! podcast, it turns out Kiki wasn’t the only contestant on the other end of Thomas’ trepidation.
“Thomas got the ick from Marnie [Klippelt] when she told him that she was a mum,” one insider explained. “She told him she was a mum of two, hoping that he would be accepting and he wasn’t.
“She opened up to him and he gave her nothing back.”
While we didn’t see this play out onscreen, Thomas was allegedly “super awkward and closed off about it”.
“He asked how old they were and that was about it. Then said he didn’t want to date someone who already has kids,” they continued. “He made a weird comment to her, something super shamey like, ‘Oh you must have started young’.
“And that was it. He shut the convo down and didn’t give her a rose at the next Rose Ceremony.”
The Queensland-based girl-mum “told the other girls she was annoyed” about being blown off because producers “had gotten her children involved in the show”.
“Only to set her up with someone who doesn’t want children.” Hmm, those pesky producers!

Another source slid into the DMs to reveal that her friend was a potential contestant who went on a Flash Date with Thomas.
However, things didn’t progress far because — you guessed it — she’s a mum.
“My friend went on one of those quick Flash Date things with Thomas and he was really mean,” they dished.
“He didn’t ask her back to the mansion because she was a mum.”
Between the mum-shaming and his devotion to the multi-level marketing scheme Isagenix, we don’t even know if we want a rose from Thomas anymore!
