Big Brother Australia is returning for 2025, and we have all the details about the upcoming season and its revamped format.
ICYMI: After being cancelled in 2024 following disastrous ratings in 2023 on Channel Seven, the hit reality show is being revived by Network Ten.
And word on the street is that the show’s production is going above and beyond to make its comeback bigger and better than ever.
It appears that producers are addressing the feedback from fans who complained that Big Brother barely resembles the show they once loved. In response, Ten has promised that the series will be returning to “the authentic, OG show you fell in love with all those years ago”. YAAS!
Better yet, the series, which first aired in 2001, will return to its live format, allowing fans to watch evictions and nominations in all their nail-biting glory.
Who is the host of Big Brother Australia 2025?
Channel 10 announced that Mel Tracina would be replacing Sonia Kruger as the show’s host.
Mel is a TV personality, radio host and actress who is best known for being the cultural correspondent on The Cheap Seats.
When deciding who’d host the reboot, an insider told Yahoo Lifestyle that long-time host Sonia and OG host Gretel Killeen were “never considered” for the 2025 series.
“Network 10 wanted someone fresh,” the source said, adding that Mel is set to bring “something unique” to the show.

Speaking to Daily Mail Australia, Mel spilled on the show’s “livestream element”, where fans can watch the contestants 24/7!
“You don’t have to worry about getting a bad edit or being the ‘season villain’. Viewers can log in at any time and see what the [Housemates] are up to,” she dished.
And that’s the authenticity we always wanted!
Where is Big Brother 2025 taking place?
Big Brother is returning to its original filming location in Dreamworld on the Gold Coast, QLD.
“The Big Brother house is synonymous with Dreamworld, so bringing the OG format to its OG location feels right,” host Mel Tracina gushed in a press release. “We’re excited to be home, and in a new house that hopefully comes with an air fryer.” LOL!
The last time Big Brother filmed in Dreamworld was for season 14 in 2014. After filming wrapped, the house was left empty. Unfortunately, it was later targeted by vandals and arsonists, leading to its demolition in 2019.
Meanwhile, the rebooted seasons from 2020 to 2023 were filmed in a new house at the White Pavilion in Sydney Olympic Park, which has since also been dismantled.
Who is in the cast of Big Brother 2025?
The cast of Big Brother 2025 is yet to be revealed, as the show is still on the hunt for Housemates, with applications closing on September 1.
However, it may be a star-studded season, as MAFS icon Jamie Marinos has teased applying for the show.
