Big Brother Australia 2023 contestants are reportedly “furious” over the incoming season, which they have been waiting to air for nearly a year.

On October 8, Channel 7 dropped a drama-filled trailer for the latest season, which the network promises to be the “spiciest season ever”.

However, according to a number of Big Brother insiders, this is far from the case.

As reported in episode 321 of the So Dramatic! podcast, one source said the new season failed to live up to expectations.

“They were originally calling it Big Brother’s House of Love and cast only hot single Love Island-esque contestants (Love Island rejects essentially), hoping for it to be a Love Island/Big Brother crossover type of thing,” they explained.

As such, they scrapped the House of Love theme altogether.

Not only that, but our insider claims the series failed to deliver on drama and strong storylines. Plus, the cast was lacklustre at best.

“Producers quickly realised that it wasnt going as planned and it would be impossible to build a strong series with what they had to work with,” they added. “So they burned through filming in 25 days, as opposed to the scheduled two months.

“They had double evictions to speed things up and were done and dusted in just over three weeks.”

Big Brother Australia 2023 contestants ‘have been waiting around for months on end’

The source explained that Big Brother 2023 was filmed in October 2023, so understandably, the contestants are getting a little antsy.

“It was scheduled to air earlier this year but executives weren’t happy with the finished product so they held off putting it out,” the insider said. “Contestants have been waiting around for months on end, unsure if the series would even go to air.

“They are furious and feel like they have wasted their time. They’ve been left in limbo and have had to put their whole lives on hold for a whole year.” And, fair!

It was also revealed that Channel 7 had originally cut together just eight episodes, with a plan to put it directly on their streaming platform, 7Plus.

“However, they were unable to fill the void it left in their programming, so they had no choice but to put it back in a free-to-air timeslot, meaning they then had to go back and re-edit the series and stretch it to 25 episodes,” the insider dished.

“So they have 25 episodes and filmed for 25 days. To put into perspective, older iterations of Big Brother were filmed over 60 days and only had about 25 eps,” they added.

The source also claimed that producers have since changed their tune, saying that the series is amazing.

And we’ll be the judge of that once Big Brother 2023 kicks off once SAS Australia 2023 wraps up!
