Big Brother Australia 2023 could be the last season of the long-running, fan-fave reality series.
The next iteration is yet to hit the small screen, but industry sources reckon the show could be dunzo once it wraps.
One insider told Daily Mail Australia this season is the last one that Seven is contractually obliged to produce, leaving Big Brother Australia‘s license in limbo.
What’s more, the series, which was originally dubbed Big Brother: House of Love and cast with single contestants, has failed to deliver on producers’ expectations.
In fact, no romances blossomed as anticipated, which forced the network to drop the House of Love theme altogether!
“In the end it just felt like more of the same Big Brother,” the source admitted.
As for the few relationships that did bloom, they’ve since fizzled. However, contestants have been told to keep their romantic lives off social media to avoid future spoilers.
Big Brother 2023 contestants aren’t happy with the show’s airing timeline
According to one Big Brother contestant, the cast is growing restless about the show, which they were told would air in April.
Lo and behold, it still hasn’t hit screens.
“We’ve been left in the dark,” they explained. “We were originally told the show would be in April and we still don’t know when the series has been scheduled to premiere!”
As the shortest season yet, Big Brother 2023 was filmed over 27 days with multiple double evictions to cut down on the timeline.
However, despite the complaints, one Seven insider reckons fans will still be thrilled with the upcoming series, with “fan favourite twists” that still “fit neatly in the Big Brother universe”.
