Big Brother Australia 2023 is upon us, and with it, an all-new House of Love theme that’s left much to be desired by the show’s longtime fans.
In August, the casting call for the new season hinted at a dating show format with their callout for “all single Housemates”.
Then, in episode 225 of the So Dramatic! podcast, a production source dished that, yep, BBAU 2023 is gonna be a certified f*ckfest — and full of #Drully reminiscing, we’re sure!
However, the announcement that Big Brother will be heavily centred on romance has divided viewers tremendously.
As one fan put it: “NO ONE WANTS THIS JUST PUT STRANGERS IN A HOUSE AND LET US WATCH THEM [sic].”
The sentiment rang true for many other Big Brother fans on social media.
“Isn’t there enough dumbarse love shows?” another questioned.
“They need to stop copying Survivor [and] Love Island,” one user suggested. “Go back to 2012/2013 Big Brother.”
“If I want to watch a show about a group of singles hooking up, then that’s what Married At First Sight is for,” a fourth added.
While another penned: “Big Brother really needs to go back to the old Big Brother!”
Past contestants even weighed in on House of Love, with two-time star Estelle Landy musing: “I don’t know how I feel about this.”
On the other side of the fence was 2022 housemate Aleisha Campbell.
“I’d rather have BB on our screens than off it, so I’m happy!” she commented.
What Else Do We Know About Big Brother: House of Love?
So Dramatic!‘s insider also dished a sh*t-ton of deets about Big Brother 2023.
“There will be 14 singles going into the house,” they said, adding that there will be “no celebrities, just influencers”.
The source also unveiled when filming is set to kick off.
“The housemates are entering lockdown this week, with filming to begin on October 31.”
News of the show’s looming start date comes after its official social channels issued a callout for fans to apply to watch the new cast enter the Big Brother house as part of the “Arrivals Night” audience.
