Friends of The Block 2024‘s Kylie Baker have revealed she “completely spiralled” after seeing her controversial portrayal on the show.
ICYMI: Kylie has been less than, er, warm during her appearance with her husband, Brad Baker, on the landmark 20th season of the renovation series.
Most notably, viewers and co-stars have criticised her for her hostile behaviour towards Maddy and Charlotte Harry, the young sisters who replaced Jesse Maguire and Paige Beechey in Week Five.
Now, friends of the mother-of-four have confessed they “don’t even recognise” the woman The Block is painting Kylie to be.
“We can see Kylie is being silly and a little overdramatic, but somehow it comes off to the viewer as if she’s ‘bullying’ people and being ‘ungrateful’,” one mate told Yahoo Lifestyle.
“Kylie is a very giving person and I think she was reading into who she thought the producers wanted her to be. That can be quite dangerous when you then trust someone else to tell your story.”

Those close to Kylie told the outlet that the 37-ear-old has “completely spiralled” under the belief that she is really like her “edit”.
“She thinks she’s a monster. It’s like the producers took her sense of humour and twisted it into something really nasty,” a close friend said.
“Very early into the season airing on TV, she made a decision not to talk to anyone publicly because she felt that if she defended herself over everything that has been misconstrued, she would be there all day and all night.”
They added that Kylie “would like viewers to know [they] are only seeing a version of her personality”.
While sources previously told So Dramatic! that Kylie and Brad broke up “not long after filming” The Block following a “huge blowup”, friends of the couple say they’re on the mend.
“At first, Kylie was laughing at the silliness of some of her antics on the show, but now she has been questioning everything about herself… Surprisingly, Brad, of all people, has been the one to comfort her,” one friend told Yahoo Lifestyle.
“The relationship was in tatters when they left The Block, but this whole experience of watching it back and only having each other as a reference point has actually been quite healing.”
