I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! Australia 2024‘s Skye Wheatley was meant to host a HUGE reality TV show but was unexpectedly dropped for a cruel reason.

Skye, a fan favourite on Big Brother and I’m a Celebrity, recently went to Turkey to undergo several surgeries, including a canthoplasty, commonly known as a fox eye lift, liposuction, blepharoplasty, and temporal lift.

However, according to Daily Mail, the mother-of-two “lost out” on becoming the new host of Love Island Australia because of her recent surgeries. Nine contacted her upon her return home to Queensland to deliver the news.

Before her trip to Turkey, the 30-year-old was “first in line” to replace long-time host Sophie Monk, who was potentially leaving the show to “focus on other projects at Nine”.

“There was an idea to add Sophie into the new format of The Floor,” one source told the outlet.

“The idea was floated that Skye could slip in and take over Love Island. Executives believed Skye could do a very similar job to Sophie.” And we’d have loved to see her as the host!

Skye Wheatley missed out on hosting Love Island after ‘drastically changing her look’

The source added that Nine decided not to work with the reality star after her recent surgeries because her “look” had changed.

“This whole idea came crashing down as the network noticed she’d drastically changed her look, which turned Nine off the idea to cast her,” they said. And if this isn’t problematic, we don’t know what is!

“The problem with changing your appearance, and even your hair colour, is that your brand is often wrapped up in a look you are famous for,” they continued.

The insider justified that Nine wasn’t “unconfident with her ability to host the show,” stating that the “look” they’d “hired her for” had “changed.” Yikes.

It sucks to be a woman in this world, eh?!
