MasterChef Australia fans have been begging for one famous Aussie chef to judge the show in 2025, and we wouldn’t be mad if this happened!
After the shock death of Jock Zonfrillo and the departure of Melissa Leong, the judging panel saw a huge shake-up, with Sofia Levin, Jean-Christophe Novelli and Poh Ling Yeow joining long-time judge Andy Allen.
In a fan group on Facebook, viewers debated whether the new judges were bringing anything to the show, with many calling for one person in particular to join the panel.
“After a long enough time to analyse, I still think that Shannon Bennett would’ve made a better judge than any of those current,” one user said.
Many fans agreed, with one writing: “I would’ve loved to see Shannon Bennett as a judge,” and another noting: “Shannon Bennet was my first choice.”
“I agree with you. Shannon Bennett has given so much time over the last several years he would be feeling very used. And I like him and the way he commented and supported the contestants,” another penned.
Shannon founded Vue de Monde, a fine dining restaurant in Melbourne, and has made many guest appearances on Masterchef over the years.
Elsewhere on Facebook, fans called for Curtis Stone to judge the show full-time, whilst others claimed OG’s George Calombaris, Matt Preston, and Gary Mehigan were the best panel yet.

However, a flock of viewers defended the current judges.
“Okay guys it’s the first year with the new judges, they’re finding their feet in the kitchen and feeling their way around Andy. Of course, it’s not going to be the same show without Jock, BUT then the show must go on,” one fan said.
“I love all the judges. They are wonderful,” another added.
A third agreed: “I wish people would stop complaining. I’m enjoying the show and love the judges.”
