Grab your passports because MasterChef Australia 2024 is going international!

Channel 10 revealed on March 4 that the hit cooking competition will be leaving Aussie shores for the first time since 2019.

The upcoming 16th season is said to film “three mouth-watering episodes” in Hong Kong, a city that 77 Michelin-starred restaurants and over 15,000 dining establishments call home.

This will be the second time MasterChef has filmed in Hong Kong, with the first being during its inaugural season in 2009.

MasterChef‘s visit to the tourist hotspot is in collaboration with Hong Kong Tourism Board and Cathay Pacific Airways.

The episodes are said to “showcase iconic landmarks and bring the city’s intrinsic east-meets-west culture to our screens”.

In the past, the show has travelled to London, Paris, New York, Italy, Dubai, America and Japan.

Andy Allen addresses MasterChef Australia 2024‘s international trip

In a statement via Channel 10, judge Andy Allen said he’s never travelled to Hong Kong before. However, he’s “been really interested in the place for a long time”.

“That’s because I see the city’s array of food is off the charts: it’s a melting pot of different cultures, bold flavours, and one-of-a-kind ingredients,” he said.

“Blending Michelin-starred restaurants with bustling street markets, it seems to have this world-class food culture going on. It’s so good that now myself, the other judges, and contestants can finally get amongst it this season.”

This year, Andy will be joined by new judges Poh Ling Yeow, Sofia Levin and Jean-Christophe Novelli.
