Steph and Gian Ottavio will reportedly appear on The Block 2024, but not in the way fans might expect.
ICYMI: There were whispers the couple — who won the show and a massive $1.75 million in 2023 — would return to the hit renovation series this year after it was revealed producers weren’t ruling out past couples as upcoming contestants.
It’s now been revealed that cameras are set to roll on The Block‘s landmark 20th season in the coming weeks, with one source telling Yahoo! Lifestyle that the season is “packed with jaw-dropping surprises”.
“We are focusing on a nicer, more wholesome season,” the insider dished. “But no matter who we cast — the drama always presents itself.”
Channel Nine is reportedly working overtime to keep the identities of the cast a secret “by blocking out car windows and changing people’s names with transport companies”.
However, the source confirmed Steph and Gian’s involvement in the new season.
What will Steph and Gian Ottavio be doing on The Block 2024?
It’s important to note that Steph and Gian won’t be contestants. However, they will reportedly have a significant role when it comes to contestants and their “Block Bucks”.
Since their historic win last year, Steph has been elbows-deep in preparing her new furniture and homewares label, Japandi Estate.
It’s understood that she will launch the brand during the upcoming season. The cast can use vouchers to access styling from the 2023 winner.
This comes after Steph addressed her hope to return to The Block after fans suggested she take on a judging role.
“I would love to come back on more of a consultant level to chat with the contestants and help them achieve what they need to achieve when they get to judging,” she said.
“I feel like that’s where you should start. [It’s not] fair for me to be a judge straight away. I think I need to earn a few more stripes to be on a panel of such an esteemed cohort of judges.”
The Block 2024, set in Victoria’s Phillip Island, is slated to hit the small screen in the second week of August.
