Filming of The Block 2024 has been delayed as a series of “obstacles” have arisen behind the scenes of the renovation show.

It was revealed in late 2023 that The Block would have a seachange in 2024, moving from inner-city Melbourne to Victoria’s Phillip Island.

However, insiders have since revealed the location isn’t the only thing shaking up the long-running series. Turns out there is a bit of a kerfuffle happening behind closed doors!

Chatting to Yahoo! Lifestyle, one source said Channel Nine had plans to start filming The Block‘s 20th season in January to take advantage of Melbourne’s warmer months.

However, this has since changed.

“The show has needed to reset, and for many reasons involving the location and casting of the 2024 series, The Block will be filmed at the same time as last year,” the source explained.

To no one’s surprise, this has “ruffled a few feathers” among those working on the show and caused “many obstacles” for the crew.

“There had been some promises made to crew about the conditions on set being improved and these delays have affected that promise.”

Weather difficulties put a damper on The Block 2024

As we know, filming The Block in winter has proven to be a sh*t-show in past years.

During the show’s “Tree Change” season in rural Gisborne in 2022, mass mud caused several issues for the cast and crew.

As such, it has “many long-standing crew members questioning if they could survive a similar shoot if the show returned to a similar climate”, the insider confessed.

“So when the locations being sourced were Daylesford, Phillip Island and Yarra Valley, it was a relief to hear the schedule had been moved forward to a January/February start date to avoid the bitterly cold months.”

Fingers crossed they get this show on the road, stat!
