“We’ve been committed to this whole idea of co-parenting and friendship,” she told host Megan Pustetto.
“But, we’ve been talking about the possibility of becoming something more, so that’s something we’re trying to explore at the moment.”
The musician explained that the pair had “written off” the idea of being more than friends because they didn’t want their baby to grow up in a “broken home”.
“We built a really beautiful bond as friends and co-parents. And that’s why we’ve had all this time to get to know each other and to develop our close relationship,” she explained.
“Now, we’re asking, ‘Could this be [something] more?’… We don’t want to rush things because if it goes wrong, there’s so much to lose.”
“We’re taking it real slow and seeing if we could be anything. And if not, I feel confident that we will always prioritise our relationship for the sake of Halen.”
She added: “We’re always hanging out… we have this really nice dynamic. And if it could be this dynamic with romance as well, that’d be perfect.”
Married at First Sight 2021’s Booka Nile addresses the challenges of dating her baby daddy Luke Millar
Booka then shared some of the challenges of forming a romance with her baby daddy.
“Becoming new parents is a crazy journey, especially when you’re trying to get to know the other parent at the same time,” she explained.
However, despite parenting being “full on”, the duo are both committed to working on themselves.
“We’re also so committed to resolving issues that arise,” she continued.
“We don’t give up on one another, no matter what happens. I feel so safe knowing he’s not going to abandon me. And vice versa. Even if we would have a big fight, I know that we’ll be able to resolve it.”
MAFS Booka says she struggles to spend quality time with Luke due to the pressures of mum life
Another roadblock the pair have been navigating is their lack of one-on-one time together.
Despite going out on a few dates, Booka recalled that she never felt “100 per cent present” because she was always thinking about her child.
“[Halen] makes growing a relationship more complicated and a bit slower because we can’t just go on hot dates and spend weekends away,” she added.
“It’s got to be something that develops organically, without us putting time limits or pressure on it… I don’t want to force something.”
However, Booka confessed that she “really enjoys dates” with Luke and is hoping to prioritise romance in the coming year.
“I think it’d be beautiful if it worked out,” she gushed. “But we know that if it doesn’t, we’re really committed to just always having a good, healthy relationship.”
And this is the type of maturity we need in our lives! We wish them all the best on their romantic journey.
