Several customers of Abbie Chatfield‘s Verbose clothing label claim to still be out of pocket over a year after placing orders that were never delivered.

ICYMI: In early 2023, fans of the serial reality star raised concerns over unfulfilled orders and a lack of refunds from the brand.

In June, Abbie responded to one disgruntled customer in an Instagram comment, maintaining that all Verbose issues were resolved “months ago”.

“If you have an order issue though, please message me, and I can let my business partners know as these were all sorted months ago as far as I was aware!” she wrote at the time.

However, several Verbose buyers allege this isn’t the case.

As reported in episode 341 of the So Dramatic! podcast, one customer said “nothing ever came from” their tireless attempts to contact the business.

“I never actually got anything, and I even tried sending DMs, but nothing ever came from it,” they told host Megan Pustetto.

“I ordered twice, and the first order took months to be dispatched, seven weeks to be exact… and then the second one just didn’t ever exist.”

She added: “I have tried emailing, commenting on all her social media accounts and DMing her — the works and yet no response.”

Another customer shared their troubling experience with Verbose.

“I bought something from Verbrose, and it never actually rocked up. So I never received my item or a refund for the order I placed in May,” they recalled. “I got an email saying my order had been refunded, but I never actually got the funds. It’s wild.

“I’m sure there are many others without their items or refunds, too. No public apology or even a post to address it all, super disappointing.”

Customers call out Abbie Chatfield’s ‘tone deaf’ Verbose dealings

While some Verbose buyers are still waiting on orders and refunds, others said they eventually received their items or compensation after repeatedly contacting the business.

“I did get the refund shortly after posting on her Insta socials, months after getting no response in emails,” one source said. “They sent me an Aus Post tracking thing and then the next day refunded me as they claimed that ‘Aus Post lost the parcel’.

“It was even weirder that I had made an order a few days prior to that drop of some sale stock, so I got the same original parcel tracking link for both parcels and assumed they had decided to merge them. So I definitely got an order, just not the new drop.

“Only the sale stock items came, but not the rest despite them merging the orders.”

Another said they similarly received their order after “chasing them multiple times”.

“Half of my messages to the page were purely asking for them to take some accountability and stop deleting comments on their posts,” the customer explained.

“I thought the whole thing was so tone-deaf on Abbie’s behalf, constantly calling out other people/companies for being sneaky whilst she was doing exactly the same thing. Very hypocritical.”

Abbie Chatfield publicly responds to Verbose enquires

After So Dramatic! shared an Instagram Story asking customers still waiting for orders or refunds to get in touch, Abbie responded with her own Story.

“PLEASE DM me if you have an order issue still outstanding with [Verbose],” she wrote. “As far as I know, the customer service team dealt with any refunds/returns last year.

“I double-checked before we took a break after the last drop. But if it slipped through the cracks and the team didn’t know, then let me know… Obviously, will sort.”

The FBOY Island Australia host then explained why she hasn’t made an official statement about her business.

“The reason I haven’t done a statement about Verbose is because we had an issue with suppliers, then I got incredibly busy, extremely mentally unwell and very burnt out,” Abbie said.

“I didn’t want to let my business partners down and we were having a break in drops, so took time to reset. Essentially, we have been waiting for me to be better and less busy, with no real timeline or definite answers about where the label will go.”

As such, Abbie said there was “no reason to issue and explanation if [she] didn’t have an answer”.

“I still don’t [have an answer], that’s what I’m hoping time off will result in.”

She continued by saying she is “unsure if/when Verbose will come back” as her “burnout is very present still”.

“A preemptive apology to anyone who has outstanding issues,” she finished. “Like I said, as far as I know, it was all rectified. I’m sorry if this has been an issue for that long of a time.”

Abbie Chatfield denies a ‘cover-up’ amid Verbose issues

In a subsequent Instagram Story, Abbie — who found fame on The Bachelor Australia in 2019 — reiterated that the ongoing issues with her business “isn’t some huge drama or cover-up”.

“We had a handful of people have their orders missing or late as the team who pack the orders were literally two people, who were also dealing with customer service,” she penned.

“Verbose is a small business that had a HUGE influx of orders with two people dealing with it all while I was filming. Hence, the desire to wait for my schedule to be less hectic.”

Abbie added that the “majority” of customer complaints came from customers who were unaware that the items were only available to “pre-order”.

“I would estimate there were under 10 complaints that I personally saw; most were pre-order confusion,” she said.

Abbie also alleged that some of the customers making public complaints about orders “didn’t have an issue in the first place” or had “ignore[d]” her messages and “continue[d] to comment”.

Then people started commenting fake order complaints,” Abbie penned. “I still followed up with every comment or DM I saw that said someone had an issue. Only two were real.

“But of course, there’s a chance I missed something… If there is someone out there who still has an order issue, like I said, DM me! More than happy to sort. I’m yet to get any DMs saying anyone has an issue.”

The Verbose website is also no longer available.

So Dramatic! has contacted Abbie and Verbose for comment multiple times over the past 12 months, but all of our enquiries have been ignored.
