Network Ten has officially announced that Robert Irwin will be joining Julia Morris as the co-host of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! Australia 2024.

Rumours had been circulating that the wildlife conservationist would be replacing long-time host Dr Chris Brown and it turns out this tea was true!

On October 24, Robert, 19, and Julia, 55, spoke to news.com.au about their “unlikely pairing” given their 35-year age gap.

“I’ve become so powerful at the network I’m now allowed to trade in for a younger model. And of course, when you trade in, you always upgrade,” Julia laughed.

“I thought it’d be a very tricky race [to find a new co-host],” she explained. “But the second Robert walked through the door, there was no contest. Everybody in the room was spellbound.”

Julia recalled that the production team was initially “nervous” to find a new co-host. However, as soon as Robert walked in, they “relaxed” when they realised he “knew what he was doing”.

“Then once he really started [the role] it became: ‘Oh my god, I think we just got another 10 years out of the series,'” she elaborated. And we can’t wait to see these two icons front the show!

Julia Morris and Robert Irwin’s pairing will bring a ‘different energy’ to I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

Julia added that her pairing with Robert would bring a “different energy” to the show than fans were used to.

“Robert is only just a whisper older than my eldest child, so I’ve really got my mummy protection pants on,” she joked.

“But I don’t remember seeing the dynamic of a turning-56-year-old woman, standing beside a 20-year-old man, presenting a prime-time show.

“He can help me with my Zimmer frame when we get to series 18. Robert will be on a carer’s wage as well.” LOL!

Robert chimed in, stating that the pair were “forging a new path”.

“It’s so unlikely but just could not work any better,” he said.

The zookeeper, who also filled in for Sam Mac as the Sunrise weatherman, said this hosting gig was “something new” for him.

“But that’s what makes it so exciting. Wildlife and conservation is my life and I have a huge love of Africa. To be able to bring that experience and love for the wildlife over there is going to be great,” he added.
