We’ve uncovered the truth behind Married at First Sight Australia 2022‘s Ella Ding‘s “proposal” to her boyfriend Guy Palermo and it’s weird AF!
On October 22, the Daily Mail posted staged photos of what looked like the reality star proposing to her partner whilst in active wear during a beach walk in Elwood, Melbourne.
And if you’re thinking this sounds as legit as a Chanel bag from Bali, you’d be correct because this was a set-up for a sponsored post!
On October 23, the Love Triangle host shared a screenshot of the pap pics in question to Instagram.
“He said YES,” she captioned the post.
“You heard it first, Guy has officially moved in! AND I popped the question to open a 2UP joint bank account with me,” she added, alongside the hashtags #commitAbit #2Upbanking #paidpartnership.
And we think we just died of a cringe overdose!
Insider spills MORE tea about MAFS’ Ella Ding’s faux engagement
As revealed in episode 323 of the So Dramatic! podcast, there’s more to this story than meets the eye.
According to an insider, the 29-year-old’s faux proposal photos were taken by a reporter at Daily Mail whom we’ve previously called out for his shady antics.
“That’s why there was no picture credit on them as it would’ve been obvious it was set up by the Daily Mail themselves,” they told So Dramatic!.
“[The reporter] has been telling people that he was personally contacted by Ella’s management and it was organised through them.
“They really wanted Ella to do this sponsored post thing so they asked [Daily Mail] to get involved and help them execute it to get more eyeballs on it,” they added.
Not only that, but another industry insider told So Dramatic! that “emails were sent out to media outlets telling them where to be”.
We even obtained a copy of the email, which reads: “Hey! I heard ‘MAFS‘ Ella Ding is proposing to her BF at Elwood Bathers today around 12 pm. Thank me later.”
The source added: “If it’s a bullsh*t bank sponsorship, surely there’s a budget for planned paps in there. People do it all the time. Why make it so obvious? Tres desperado.” LOL!
And this sounds like another item to add to the list of Ella’s questionable moves!
