Farmer Wants a Wife Australia 2023‘s Farmer Brenton Kuch has spilled all about his breakup from final pick Sophie Holcombe.
ICYMI: On July 1, Sophie revealed she and her farmer bae had split, calling the demise of their relationship a “disappointing ending”.
She later took to her Story in August to reveal she was “deeply hurt” by the breakup, hinting that things may not have been as amicable as things were made out to be.
Brenton later told Yahoo! Lifestyle that “neither one of them” wanted to break up. However, the couple “needed time apart”.
“It seemed to be civil until a few weeks ago,” he explained, adding they’d originally agreed to keep the split private.
Now, in episode 316 of the So Dramatic! podcast, Brenton revealed all about his and Sophie’s relationship’s demise.
“Producers said after filming how some people struggle settling into normal life after the hectic experience we had just been through,” he said.
“One day you’re all fighting to find that person and then the next day we were on the plane home to live with someone you’re not even really with yet.”
Brenton added: “I know relationships have good days then some days there’s little hiccups but you’ve got to get though those together.
“Only a certain amount of times you can be told the other party wants out of the relationship before you’re exhausted and have nothing left to give.”

According to Brenton, Sophie struggled to come to terms with his female friends, of whom he’d been close with since his schooling years.
“I’ve always had a group of female friends who I’ve gone to school with and grown up with and I respect them a lot and would never stop talking to them,” he explained.
“I know it could look bad to some. But relationships are built on trust and unfortunately that was always being doubted in the relationship, which ended up being a killer.”
The farmer said that Sophie’s former boyfriend had cheated on her, “so he always thought [he] was going to do the same”.
“Which I never would,” he confirmed. “I’d be on my phone at night and a mate would send me a Snapchat or something and I’d be smirking and she would instantly think it was a girl and make me show her my phone to prove who I was talking to.
“I know it would’ve been hard with her past but there was just no trust and ended up driving me mad being doubted every minute.”
He went on to say that Sophie “would always say [he] never did anything for her”.
“I always thought [that] was a bit cheeky [because] I paid for a holiday to Airlie Beach, bought her a diamond necklace… One time I took her away for lunch and then she told a friend it didn’t feel special,” Brenton recalled.
“Sophie had told a lady that all I do is stay on the farm and [that] I never want to do anything off it.”

Having hinted at it before, Brenton confirmed to So Dramatic! that Sophie has a “new guy on the scene”.
“To be honest, I think that’s why she wanted to publicly announce the split,” he said. “Not sure how serious it is but there’s someone there.
“It’s a small community over here so everyone talks but I wish Sophie and her new partner all the best.”
Brenton spilling the tea comes after a source close to Sophie told So Dramatic! that “Sophie is finally happy”.
“[She is] feeling like herself again now that she’s out of that relationship and that’s what she’s focussing on.”
