Farmer Wants a Wife Australia 2023‘s Farmer Brenton Kuch has taken a brutal swipe seemingly targeted at his ex-girlfriend, Sophie Holcombe.
ICYMI: Sophie announced in early August that she and her Gippsland farmer had called it quits.
At the time, the beloved pair seemed to be on good terms despite the relationship breakdown. However, that may not be the case, particularly after Sophie hinted at some tension in a recent Instagram Story.
Responding to ongoing commentary from fans that she never intended on staying on Brenton’s Darriman farm, the 25-year-old said she was urged by producers to mention she’d love to travel someday.
“I have kept quiet but the comments are horrible,” she wrote. “I don’t want to travel. If I did I’d be doing it right now.
“I was forced by producers to bring this up. Also doesn’t every normal person want to go on a holiday once in their life?”
Sophie also added that she grew up on a farm, so understands that a farmer’s wife needs to “be a supporting and caring partner”.
“I took this experience seriously. I was ready to find love,” she assured fans.

According to the Farmer Wants a Wife suitor, who moved to Darriman to be with Brenton, “so much happened that people have no idea about”.
“They’re judging our entire relationship off a couple of minutes of edited footage they saw on TV,” Sophie explained. “I lived with Brenton for over six months and went through a lot.
“I will never publicly share these details. But just know, I tried my absolute best to build a lifelong relationship.”
She added: “I loved him and I was deeply hurt by the situation.”
Sophie revealed that she still lives in Gippsland, having taken a “job opportunity and moved to a new town”.
“Luckily, it has been a very happy experience and [her dog] Reg and I are very settled and going well.”

After Sophie shared her thoughts on her Instagram Story, Brenton later took to his own account — albeit in a more childish manner.
The 26-year-old sheep and cattle farmer posted an image of his head edited onto a body that stood in front of a bullet-splattered wall.
“Dodging bullets,” he captioned the post and yikes.
This is also the first time he has addressed his split from Sophie on social media.

A friend of Sophie’s told So Dramatic! that the FWAW participant was being heavily trolled on a Facebook post from an article shared by The Morning Show about their breakup.
In screenshots provided to So Dramatic!, the comments alleged Sophie was “only in it for her five minutes of fame”.
“Don’t give her airtime, we don’t care, this is exactly all she wanted,” one user penned.
Others doubled down on their opinions that she “never intended [on] staying” with Brenton.
According to the source, Sophie had “had enough of the trolls”.
“So she shared that she is from a farming background and isn’t planning to go on any holidays,” they added. “Producers forced that storyline and it’s such a stupid thing to get hate for.
“Everyone wants to go on a holiday once in their life. Her story was in response to that.”
Apparently, Brenton later messaged her, questioning her decision to post that statement.
“He wasn’t happy with her… Then that night he posted his Story about dodging bullets,” the insider said.
“Brenton posting that meme is just showing his true colours. A genuine, kind and respectful person would never do something like that.”
They concluded: “Sophie is finally happy and feeling like herself again now that she’s out of that relationship and that’s what she’s focusing on.” Good for her!
