One Reddit user has revealed that the MasterChef Australia audition process is “super hectic” and we wouldn’t expect any less from the hit cooking show.

A curious fan took to the MasterChefAU subreddit to ask whether anyone who’d auditioned for the show could spill some behind-the-scenes tea.

And luckily for us, one user delivered the juicy goss!

“Unless it’s changed, it’s kinda a Mystery Box with a limited open pantry, then a signature dish the next day if you’re invited back,” the Redditor spilled

According to the anonymous user, these meals were tasted by the producers, rather than the TV judging panel.

Successful applicants then had to undergo “a few interviews”. From there, they’d wait to see if they’d progressed to the filmed auditions.

The fan dished that the filmed auditions ran over a few days, and they were “super hectic” with “multiple people cooking at once”.

The MasterChef Australia audition process is stressful yet ‘fun’

And to make things even more intense, applicants didn’t know what they’d be cooking until 15 minutes before they were set to start. And we couldn’t think of anything worse!

However, the user stressed that the experience was a lot of fun.

“[The] rest of the time you’re cheering for the other contestants,” they explained. “Those days were super positive and good fun!”

And this sounds great, but we reckon we’ll stick to watching the show rather than starring in it!
