Married at First Sight has announced its first-ever transgender bride and this is the diversity Australia should be aiming for.

On September 5, the UK franchise confirmed that Ella, a clinic consultant from Weston-super-Mare in Somerset, England would be joining the 2023 cast.

According to Digital Spy, appearing on MAFS is a big deal for the 29-year-old.

“This experiment is so much more than just me getting married. I see this as a big deal for someone who has transitioned,” she explained.

And Aussie producers, if you’re listening, we’d LOVE to see some transgender stars on our screens, stat!

What else do we know about Married at First Sight UK’s transgender bride Ella?

Ella has been described as “a blonde bombshell with a sense of humour and a heart of gold.”

She lives with her Nan, who’s also her best friend. According to Ella, the two make up the “dynamic duo everyone needs in their life.” And we’re not crying, you are!

On the official MAFS UK Instagram account, Ella explained why she’s ready for love.

“I deserve love because I’ve gone through a lot as a person and I deserve to be with someone who loves me for me and accepts me because I’m fabulous,” she said.

Ella’s casting comes after Married at First Sight Australia announced that they’d still be featuring a same-sex couple in the 2024 series after finding a replacement for original groom Simon Flocco, who quit the show.
