Married at First Sight Australia producers have cast a former reality star for the 2024 season in a bid to “save” the show after multiple cast members quit.

According to Yahoo! Lifestyle, this face is none other than First Dates 2020 star Ridge Barredo, who was spotted filming his faux wedding in Sydney last week.

And we think this makes TOTAL sense, considering producers promised us a cast who were “genuinely looking for love“. Not!

The professional weightlifter has a pretty impressive résumé having competed in the Commonwealth Games in 2018 and 2022.

According to his Instagram, which is currently set to private, he also offers online coaching.

The 27-year-old is no stranger to the blue tick universe as he’s also pals with The Bachelorette 2020’s Nick Chamberlain. So it really seems like he’s looking for love, right?

Multiple cast members QUIT Married at First Sight 2024

Ridge’s casting on MAFS comes after multiple cast members quit the show partway through filming.

Leaked footage obtained by Yahoo! Lifestyle showed Melbourne-based real estate agent Tim Smith storming out of his apartment at Sydney’s Skye Suites last week, shortly after filming a scene with his on-screen wife.

Groom Simon Flocco, who was part of the show’s first same-sex couple since 2020, also quit the series, confessing that “MAFS wasn’t what [he] thought [he] wanted at this point in [his] life.”

Let’s hope there are no more walkouts or there might not even be a series…
