Channel Nine has disabled The Block‘s comments on Instagram after fans complained about the drama that’s transpired this season.

The Block, which was once a wholesome family show, is now seeming a lil’ more like Married at First Sight. And despite receiving complaints about the overly dramatic 2022 season, it looks like producers haven’t listened.

From Bedhead-gate to blatant bullying, this year has seen some of the most toxic behaviour to date and people haven’t been impressed.

Many viewers took to social media to share their thoughts, which resulted in Nine disabling the comments of a post made on August 18.

And after perusing the comments section of The Block‘s previous posts, we can see why.

Leah [Milton] has single-handedly dropped the viewer ratings. Well done,” one user wrote under a video of Leah, whilst another pleaded: “Bring back the old days!”

“It would be great to actually see some renovating,” a third penned, whilst a fourth added: “When will they realise we just want to see building and styling?”

The Block 2022‘s Sharon Johal believes producers should have done more to ‘protect’ POC contestants from racist trolling

Comments being disabled comes after 2022 contestant Sharon Johal spoke out about her “villain” edit, which resulted in her receiving “racist trolling” online.

Speaking to Yahoo! Lifestyle in October 2022, the actress suggested that reality TV producers should have more “awareness” of how “villain” edits could disproportionately impact people of colour (POC) due to racist trolling.

Sharon explained that producers allowing POC contestants to be described as “cheats” created a false narrative that sparked racist comments from The Block viewership.

“When you attribute the word ‘cheater’ to a person of colour, straight away it goes to: ‘Oh, these Indians steal our jobs, get out of our country’,” Sharon told the publication.

She then urged The Block’s producers to “protect” future POC contestants from experiencing racist trolling by not creating “villain” edits that spark hatred.

However, it seems things are only getting worse…
