The Block Australia 2022’s Sharon Johal has 10000% been given the villain edit this year, and now we know why.

As reported in episode 211 of the So Dramatic! podcast, a source has revealed that the former Neighbours star (and her husband Ankur Dogra) were punished for questioning production.

“Sharon is media savvy, so when things occurred that wasn’t above board or didn’t seem right, she would question it with producers,” the insider said.

According to our source, the constant interrogations put production “offside” from the start. Meanwhile, the other couples went along with it and “played the game the whole way through”.

“Sharon and Ankur were brutally honest and would bring up things they didn’t feel comfortable with,” the source said. “Sharon had good moments where she joked around and had fun, too, but none of it is being shown.”

In addition to this (and contrary to the episodes thus far), the couple was also “the hardest-working onsite, pulling the most all-nighters”, with the largest house and the least experience.

“Sharon was an easy target and made out to be the villain because she was very emotional and reactive to things. She gave production good footage and grabs to use against her.” Ooft!

As for the other Blockheads — if they did something that wasn’t “suited to their characters”, it “didn’t make the cut”.

Elle Ferguson Was Meant to Have the Villain Edit

Another on-set source spilled some piping hot tea which may explain why Sharon is being targeted this season. And it has everything to do with Elle Ferguson and Joe Patfull’s exit!

“Producers had initially planned for Elle and Joel to be the villains this year because they knew they couldn’t handle the pressure and conditions on The Block,” the So Dramatic! spy dished.

“After they left, producers panicked because they had lost their main storyline for this season. Sharon was the closest thing to Elle, given that she was a celebrity too, so they decided to give Sharon the princess edit they had planned for Elle.”

Sharon was an “easy target”, so it was “easy” for them to “perpetuate a narrative that they are privileged and entitled”.

Elle Ferguson and Joel Patfull Left Due to Having an Unfavourable Edit

While hi-vis gear and scratchy toilet paper dominated headlines upon their exit, it seemed Elle and Joel could “tell” they were being given an unfavourable edit, which is why they left.

“They knew it and were just smart about it and got out before any more damage was done to their reputations,” the same insider revealed.

“If Elle and Joel hadn’t left, Sharon and Ankurs journey and portrayal on the show would have been completely different.”
