The Block 2023‘s fast friends Kristy Beams and Leah Milton have dished on their fractured relationship with co-star Steph Ottavio, dubbing the 27-year-old as “calculated”.
With allegations that the 19th season of the reno show is like “Melrose Place on steroids”, it’s no wonder the latest instalment is already facing drama in its first week.
From butting heads to tiffs about furniture, The Block 2023‘s youngest contestant Steph is seemingly getting on everyone’s nerves!
“If this is how we’re going to be week one, I don’t know how we’re going to be week 12,” Leah told Woman’s Day of the drama.
According to the 32-year-old, she “had [her] reservations” about her co-star from day dot.
“I prefer everything to be upfront and I wasn’t quite getting that from her, so I did find it really difficult,” she explained. “Then she was sort of coming off as quite competitive, so naturally in The Block environment, you just start questioning everything.
“There were a couple of things that I thought, ‘Oh, I think she might be playing a game and being a bit sneaky.'”
Meanwhile, Kristy said “everything” Steph did was “calculated”, with the publication reporting that Kristy and Leah branded the young architect as “smart and sneaky”.

Steph, however, told Women’s Day that the Blockheads are threatened by her architect background.
“I deflected on the show and said, ‘Oh, no, I don’t think people would be intimidated by me because we’re just young kids,'” she said. “I grew to know that people were definitely intimidated by me.”
She added that she and hubby Gian were more focused on their build than drama.
“We always felt like we were behind the eight ball… Some people who were in front had time to, like, gossip!”
Meanwhile, competitor Kristy says drama was her aim on set.
“I could see things play out prior to them happening… So I would kind of like drop a bomb and run away,” she says.
“I was just entertaining myself and trying to make it as fun as possible.” Lowkey love this energy, and it seems her husband Brett does too!
“Other seasons I’ve watched I’ve found rather boring, so if bitchiness comes across, great,” he said.
“I’d rather watch that than some of the more simple seasons I’ve seen in the past.”
